Uno spettacolo realizzato con il contributo della Fondazione CARIT che rientra nel progetto “drammaturgia del presente”, filo conduttore che caratterizza la programmazione del Teatro degli occhi, curata dall’Associazione Laura e Morando Morandini di cui lo stesso Fago è direttore artistico.
Prendendo spunto dal pensiero di Marcel Proust secondo cui la realtà si forma soltanto nella memoria, lo spettacolo ‘Lettera a mia madre’ ripercorre le vicende personali di una donna nata all’inizio del secolo scorso, la madre di Fago, appunto, intrecciandole con le vicende storiche di quello del ‘secolo breve’, il ‘900.
“…Mia madre aveva una bellissima voce da soprano che fu riconosciuta e apprezzata, durante una sua permanenza a Roma, all’età di 16 anni, da un’importante maestra di canto. L’aveva casualmente sentita cantare; la spronò a coltivare questo suo talento e si disse disposta a darle lezioni, anche gratuitamente. I pregiudizi dell’epoca nei confronti del mondo del teatro indussero suo padre a negarle il permesso di trasferirsi a Roma per studiare canto, facendo così prevalere il suo destino femminile di essere sposa e madre. Sicuramente questo episodio ha segnato la vita di mia madre, lasciandole però intatta la sua grande passione per la musica e per il teatro che ha trasmesso potentemente a me e a mio fratello, tanto che, entrambi, abbiamo seguito una carriera artistica”

A show produced with the contribution of the CARIT Foundation that is part of the “dramaturgy of the present” project, a common thread that characterizes the programming of the Theatre of the Eyes, curated by the Laura and Morando Morandini Association, of which Fago himself is artistic director.
Taking its cue from Marcel Proust’s thought that reality is formed only in memory, the play ‘Letter to My Mother’ traces the personal events of a woman born at the beginning of the last century, Fago’s mother, precisely, interweaving them with the historical events of that of the ‘short century,’ the 1900s.
“…My mother had a beautiful soprano voice that was recognized and appreciated, during a stay in Rome at the age of 16, by a prominent singing teacher. She had accidentally heard her sing; she spurred her on to cultivate this talent and said she was willing to give her lessons, even free of charge. The prejudices of the time against the world of theater led her father to deny her permission to move to Rome to study singing, thus making her feminine destiny of being a wife and mother prevail. Undoubtedly this episode marked my mother’s life, but it left intact her great passion for music and theater, which she passed on powerfully to my brother and me, so much so that, both of us, followed artistic careers.”
